We develop and deliver artist-led projects with communities, transforming familiar places into spaces for creativity, connection and new ideas from our base in Hartlepool.

We’re a Community Interest Company that offers creative producing, project development and delivery, working with artists, communities and partners to shape ambitious, place-based work, whilst actively applying for support from grants, trusts and foundations to deepen the impact of our creative work.

We collaborate with artists, communities and partners to create ambitious, socially engaged work that connects people to each other and to the places they live. Our projects often happen outside of traditional cultural spaces, taking place in shopping centres, libraries, high streets, parks, museums and community venues, working with the people who are already there.

Our approach was born out of collective imagination and grounded in the realities of living and working in communities that experience multiple hardships. We bring people together to explore new ways of seeing, thinking and making, using creativity as a tool to build connections, challenge dominant narratives and open up different futures.

We specialise in building the conditions for meaningful collaboration. That means pairing artists with communities, designing processes that prioritise care and trust, and creating work that is both artistically strong and socially relevant. Our role is to hold space, connect people and make things happen, bringing together the right teams to deliver projects with depth and integrity in order to maximise impact.

SIDEQUEST works across a range of formats, from participatory installations and performances to long-term place-based programmes and commissions. Alongside delivery, we support artists and organisations with creative development, fundraising and strategic thinking, helping to grow ideas into fully realised projects.

SIDEQUEST is about expanding who gets to shape culture, where it happens and what it can be.
